How to determine hemorrhoids and its form at home, by what signs?

Hemorrhoids is a pathological condition in which there is varicose veins in the rectum. Men aged 40-50 suffer more often from the disease, although pathology is often found in women. There are a number of predisposing factors that provoke the disease. They are based on a sedentary, sedentary lifestyle. Hemorrhoids are accompanied by soreness, discomfort in the rectum, increasing bleeding, that is, symptoms that reduce the quality of human life.

Stages of the disease

There are four stages of the disease. The pathological process begins with the initial or first stage, which is not always diagnosed on time. This is due to the fact that the symptoms do not appear as clearly as in other stages of the disease. With the initial degree of the disease, there is a constant increase in hemorrhoidal nodes, which leads to stagnation of blood in the vascular system of the rectum.

The patient complains of the following symptoms:

  • there is discomfort in the anus,
  • a person often has a feeling that the intestines are not completely empty,
  • itching and burning in the anus.

With the progression of the disease, a person can detect minor spotting from the rectum. This means that the disease goes to the next, second stage. Most often, bleeding occurs due to constipation, as this causes an increase in pressure in the rectum.

At the initial stage, severe bleeding does not occur, since the vessels are slightly damaged, and a few drops of blood can be released, which can be found on toilet paper.

In the future, a patient with a second and third degree of the disease has frequent bleeding, the hemorrhoids themselves may fall out. It provokes their loss of physical activity, bowel movement. The pain increases over time, frequent bleeding leads to anemia. The more advanced the stage of hemorrhoids, the more difficult it will be to choose a treatment and save the patient from painful suffering. That is why it is necessary to distinguish between the symptoms of the initial stage of the disease in order to consult a doctor in time and undergo an examination.

About the disease

Each person has hemorrhoidal nodes, similar to folds and occurring on the mucous surface of the anal canal. They along with the muscles prevent the feces from leaving the rectum before the act of defecation.

Varicose enlargement of the plexus of the anus or inflammation of the hemorrhoidal nodes is an ailment caused by stagnation of blood and intense tension. This often leads to a change in the location of the folds. Together with the intestinal mucosa, they move down to the anus. As a result, the broken blood flow of the folds is obtained, starting to increase and crawl out from the outside of the anus.

The cause of hemorrhoids can be:

  • passive lifestyle,
  • overweight
  • pregnancy, childbirth,
  • bad habits,
  • congenital predisposition
  • physical stress, weight lifting,
  • anal sex
  • difficult bowel movements.

Pathology also appears due to improper nutrition, that is, when eating spicy, spicy food.

Pregnant women are at risk for hemorrhoids. This is caused by physiological changes in the body of the expectant mother.

According to statistics, proctological ailment is equally observed in women and men. But people are more susceptible to the development of hemorrhoids 40-60 years.

What is hemorrhoids

This disease is characterized by the occurrence of a strong inflammatory focus and thrombosis of the veins of the rectum. In the presence of unpleasant sensations in the anus and discomfort during bowel movement, there is reason to believe that hemorrhoids develop. The causes and symptoms of the disease in each patient are individual. According to various estimates, about 15-25% of people at least once have experienced inflammation of the hemorrhoidal veins, and many are constantly tormented by the disease. It is important to know how to determine hemorrhoids in the early stages, since then the pathology will be easier to cure.

Types of hemorrhoids in men

Let's talk about how each kind of hemorrhoids begins:

External hemorrhoids - it is characterized by the presence of dilated veins. These veins are located on the outside of the anus. Blood in this case appears with thinning of the skin over the hemorrhoid.

If the skin becomes thinner, a blood clot can break out in the form of a clot. After that, scarlet blood may appear. Internal hemorrhoids - it is characterized by the appearance of hemorrhoidal nodes, which are practically not visible visually. They are located under the mucous membrane of the rectum.

Their appearance occurs at the time of protrusion of the walls of blood vessels. Most often, such nodes do not cause pain.

A sign of the presence of internal hemorrhoids of the 1st degree may be a small discharge of blood. It can be seen on toilet paper after a bowel movement.

Combined hemorrhoids are quite rare, usually due to the fact that a person does not treat another form. Sometimes it happens that the symptoms of the disease develop imperceptibly.

In this case, combined hemorrhoids can be a surprise for a person. Treating it is much more difficult than other forms. This is due to the fact that its symptoms are very pronounced, so you have to use various means in order to stop these symptoms.

Causes of Hemorrhoids

Most often, hemorrhoids develop in men and women over the age of 45 years, although the disease gets younger with age. This is due to the fact that more and more people of intellectual labor are becoming.

Predisposing factors for the development of varicose veins of the rectum is a sedentary lifestyle, obesity, people suffering from frequent constipation. The professions, among which the most frequently observed patients with this disease, include drivers, accountants, office workers, that is, those who spend a long time in a sitting position.

Improper nutrition often provokes the development of pathology over the years. Suffer people who often eat smoked meats, spices. Another piquant fact is that hemorrhoids can develop from direct injury to the walls of the rectum, that is, from anal sex.

It is worth noting the fact that not only people leading a sedentary lifestyle suffer from hemorrhoids. Excessive physical activity, especially weight lifting, also provokes the disease. This category of people includes movers, athletes.

Initial symptoms

It will be possible to recognize hemorrhoids independently according to peculiar signs, the presence of symptoms inherent in this ailment.

So, the characteristic manifestations are:

  • pain, discomfort in the anus, increasing with bowel movements,
  • a sense of presence in the anal canal of a foreign object,
  • unpleasant sensation and burning
  • the formation of hemorrhoidal nodes inside the intestine or near the anus,
  • severe itching leading to psycho-emotional shock,
  • the presence of blood in the feces or noticeable on toilet paper.

If these symptoms are present or some of them, it is necessary to consult a specialist. If therapy is performed earlier, the higher the chance of achieving a favorable result without surgical intervention and taking serious medications.

In the form of the disease, the hemorrhoidal process is acute, chronic. The above symptoms of hemorrhoids in the acute stage are amplified, complications (thrombosis of the hemorrhoidal cone) may be added.

The chronic course of the disease is not so pronounced. Mild pain, itching in the anus, occasionally manifested by blood, are not always an occasion to visit a doctor.

Causes and symptoms

The main cause of the onset of the ailment is a pathological inflammatory process that affects the plexus of blood vessels located under the skin of the perineum. With the development of internal hemorrhoids, inflammation is located in the thickness of the walls of the rectum. In both cases, venous circulation is disturbed in the intestine, as a result of which dystrophic changes in muscle tissue occur. During the pathological process, inflammation of the hemorrhoids occurs, which increase in size and shift to the anus.

In the course of the development of the disease, nodes fall out of the anus. You can determine hemorrhoids yourself, paying attention to the following unpleasant symptoms:

  • the appearance of anal fissures,
  • pain in the perineum, anus,
  • sensation of a foreign object in the anus,
  • the presence of blood in the stool,
  • discomfort during and after a bowel movement (itching, pain, the patient feels a constant burning sensation).

A key source of the pathological process is venous insufficiency, characterized by weakness of the vascular walls, malfunctioning of the vascular valves. As a result of this, blood stagnates in the hemorrhoidal veins located in the rectal canal and around the anal ring. As a result, deformation occurs, the protrusion of the walls of the vessels and cavernous formations in which they are localized. Factors such as:

  • lack of exercise
  • alcohol abuse
  • pressure on internal organs during pregnancy,
  • genetic predisposition
  • rectal pathology,
  • pelvic inflammatory processes
  • heavy lifting, serious physical exertion,
  • abuse of smoked, salted, pickled, spicy food

The causes of the disease

The following reasons for the onset of hemorrhoids in men can be noted:

  • colon injuries
  • digestive disorders that lead to prolonged constipation or prolonged diarrhea,
  • hereditary factors,
  • alcohol abuse
  • overstrain of the peritoneum. It can occur, for example, when lifting weights,
  • sedentary lifestyle,
  • eating spicy food,
  • age-related changes
  • frequent nervous breakdowns,
  • the presence of tumors in the gastrointestinal tract.

How to identify hemorrhoids

In total, 3 forms of the disease are distinguished, which can be distinguished among themselves already at the initial stage.

  1. The first form is called internal hemorrhoids, when the veins located deep in the anal canal are affected. It is this form of the disease that is characterized by frequent spotting and prolapse of hemorrhoids during tension. Externally, at the first stage, without instrumental studies, pathology cannot be detected.
  2. External hemorrhoids is the second form of the disease in which vessels in the anus are affected. Bleeding is rare, but characteristic swelling in the anus can be detected. Pathology is characterized by inflammation of the hemorrhoids outside. An experienced doctor will identify the disease on palpation and a thorough examination.
  3. A dangerous disease is a combined form that combines all of the above symptoms.

The first stage of hemorrhoids for a long time can be asymptomatic. Often provoking factors are pregnancy in women, prolonged constipation or excessive exercise. With an exacerbation of the disease, the patient detects bloody discharge from the anus, feels a burning sensation and a feeling of the presence of a foreign object in the rectum, pain during defecation or exertion.

How to determine the form of hemorrhoids

The treatment of any pathology depends on the reliable determination of the diagnosis, the establishment of the stage of the pathological course. Hemorrhoids are 3 types:

They can be distinguished by the location of the hemorrhoidal inflamed nodes. Of course, the doctor can make an accurate diagnosis, but if you know the signs that appear, you can determine the hemorrhoids yourself.

How to understand that you have hemorrhoids

The disease has many diverse symptoms, which often become noticeable only during an exacerbation. The onset of the disease, as a rule, is characterized by the absence of characteristic symptoms. In addition, a feature of the pathology is that the signs can be individual in each patient and are expressed in different cases more or less intensely. At the slightest suspicion of the onset of hemorrhoids, a proctologist should be examined, since only a specialist can correctly determine the diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Who is at risk?

Men who are more prone to hemorrhoids of the initial stage:

  • parents who suffer from hemorrhoids,
  • alcohol addicts
  • those whose work is associated with hard physical work,
  • those who, due to life circumstances, cannot walk,
  • having constipation or diarrhea,
  • in old age
  • those, whose life is full of stress,
  • suffering from various tumors of the gastrointestinal tract,
  • spicy food lovers.

Now that you’ve learned a little more about the initial stage of hemorrhoids, symptoms are the next topic that we would like to cover in this article.

  • Detailed description of the various stages: first, second, third, fourth,

Interior

At the initial stage of development of internal hemorrhoids, the symptoms are slightly pronounced. The pathogenic process is carried out inside the rectum. There is an expansion of the veins, their swelling, an inflammatory process is noticeable, because of this an internal node appears.

At stage 1, pain is not present, there is:

  • a little discomfort after bowel movement, to which a person does not pay much attention,
  • then, due to subsequent damage to the vessels, the patient notices bloody blotches in the feces, on paper.

In the presence of blood, it is very important to consult a doctor, since blood can be both a sign of hemorrhoids and the most dangerous ailment - oncology of the rectum. Difficulties associated with the self-identification of internal hemorrhoidal nodes appear due to the absence of pronounced symptoms at the initial stage of the development of pathology.

And yet, how to find out that this is hemorrhoids, and not some other pathology? As the nodes increase, the above signs are added:

  • constipation
  • intense pain in the anal canal,
  • bleeding.

The mucosa of the rectum is injured, this causes inflammation of the intestinal wall, as well as the formation of a bacterial infection.

At this stage, hemorrhoids bleeding is already strong, not due to the process of emptying. This often leads to anemia, namely a decrease in the number of red blood cells in the blood. Therefore, erythrocytopenia detected during a general blood test is a direct sign of the disease.

In the case of patient inaction, vein thrombosis may occur, which is life threatening. This condition is manifested by intense pain in the anus. The patient will need urgent hospitalization and surgery to remove cones.

First signs

When the hemorrhoid cones are located close to the anal passage, the hemorrhoids will be external. In this case, some nodes fall out. With the internal form of the pathology, the inflamed cones are located deeply, so diagnosing the disease is much more difficult. The first obvious signs by which hemorrhoids can be determined are:

  • slight discomfort in the anus, rectum,
  • heaviness in the intestines
  • the feeling of being inside a foreign body,
  • bleeding after bowel movements,
  • constant burning sensation, itching,
  • pain in the anus,
  • swelling.

Primary symptoms of delicate illness

It is very important to begin treatment at the first stage of hemorrhoids. This is due to the fact that treating hemorrhoids at an early stage will be much easier.

How does hemorrhoids start in men? It is worth paying attention to such a fact as blood flow during bowel movements. The initial signs of hemorrhoids include burning or itching, a sensation of a foreign body in the rectum.

Also, with hemorrhoids of stage 1, the area around the anus can be constantly wetting, and with defecation painful sensations are possible.

In the following cases, there is the possibility of inflammation of the hemorrhoids inside and outside the rectum during hemorrhoids of the 1st degree:

  1. Inflammation of external hemorrhoids possible with malnutrition, from overstrain of the peritoneum, in the presence of constipation.
  2. Inflammation of internal hemorrhoids possible in case of alcohol abuse, due to age-related changes, in the presence of tumors in the gastrointestinal tract.

Symptoms of the initial stage of hemorrhoids

As we said at the beginning, hemorrhoids at the initial stage in most cases begin asymptomatically. But, patients who are attentive to their health can still notice the first signs of the disease. Let's talk about them.

Hemorrhoids at the initial stage are the first signs.

The first signs of hemorrhoids can be the following:

  • heaviness in the rectum,
  • discomfort and slight soreness in the anus during bowel movements,
  • itching in the anal ring after visiting the restroom,
  • a feeling of incomplete emptying of the rectum, similar to a feeling of sensation of a foreign body,
  • spotting during bowel movements (drops of blood on toilet paper and faience, blood streaks on stool).

The listed symptoms of hemorrhoids in the initial stage can appear all at the same time or develop gradually, increasing their intensity. But, regardless of whether one symptom or several worries, you should immediately consult a specialist - a proctologist, in order to prevent the transition of the disease into a chronic form.

Outer

It is not always difficult to detect and diagnose the presence of external hemorrhoids, because the degree of manifestation is most noticeable. At the initial stage, it can be understood that hemorrhoids in humans, by the expansion of the plexuses of the veins, they are felt during palpation. The external form is constantly changing, periods of exacerbations, remissions are possible.

At the time of remission, a person feels:

  • slight discomfort in the anus,
  • redness, itching,
  • slight swelling.

Near the anus, tubercles, cones can disappear, then painful when pressed.

When exacerbation appears:

  • rectal bleeding
  • at the last stage, the nodes drop out.

If the treatment is done in a timely manner, the loss of hemorrhoid cones can be completely prevented. The crawled out node is quite hyperemic, blue in color and very painful under mechanical influence.

With an ailment not aggravated, the inflammation is not strong, prolapse of the cones is not observed. Therefore, it will not be possible to determine hemorrhoids at home during the period of remission, only an experienced specialist can establish it.It even happens that an internal illness in the absence of therapy is able to go into the external, which indicates an unfavorable development of hemorrhoids. Subsequently, vein thrombosis, the transition of the disease to the chronic stage, as well as the formation of fistulas are possible.

Features of the course of the disease in women and men

The primary signs of hemorrhoids in the weaker sex almost completely coincide with male symptoms. To start the disease in women are characterized by:

  • itching
  • burning,
  • acute pain or moderate soreness during bowel movements,
  • decreased performance
  • lack of appetite,
  • fever.

It must be remembered that hemorrhoids is a multifactorial disease. A woman who is predisposed to blood clots and other vascular pathologies is contraindicated in taking hormonal contraceptives. Other risk factors for the disease in the fair sex are:

  • elderly age,
  • menopause
  • pregnancy, childbirth,
  • lack of exercise
  • tendency to pathologies of the cardiovascular system.

According to statistics, men often turn to a proctologist, because they are by nature less shy. You should visit a doctor if you notice such symptoms:

  • pain during bowel movements,
  • frequent constipation
  • during sitting, discomfort intensifies,
  • blood appears in the stool,
  • tissue in the anus swelled, making it difficult to empty the intestines.

What is the danger of initial hemorrhoids?

Fortunately, complications rarely occur in the initial stages of hemorrhoidal disease. But the first degree of this disease is dangerous for its secrecy, because the patient does not know about his problem or does not notice it, and hemorrhoids cones increase in the meantime. Thus, hemorrhoids manifest a vivid clinical picture only in the second stage, and the main sign of the transition of the disease to the next stage is prolapse of nodes during defecation.

Combined

A dangerous and complex form of hemorrhoids is combined, that is, hemorrhoidal cones are inside the rectum and outside. The type of pathology negatively affects the quality of life of a person, because due to intense pain the patient can not even sit.

The combined form of hemorrhoids is extremely rare, and many cases of sick people are advanced stages of the disease of other forms.

With a simple course of pathology (not complicated), the characteristic symptomatology appears late. Therefore, it’s quite difficult to understand that you have hemorrhoids.

The early development of the disease is characterized by:

  • a slight feeling of heaviness in the anus,
  • perhaps a sensation of a foreign object.

As a result of this, the pathology develops for a long time, but at the time of exacerbation, which occurs unexpectedly, the symptoms are quite pronounced.

You can identify the combined form by the following signs:

  • intense pain in the rectum,
  • node exit
  • itching, discomfort in the peritoneum, pelvis,
  • rectal bleeding.

The incidence of vein thrombosis with a combined form of the disease is significantly higher than with only external or internal hemorrhoids.

How to recognize hemorrhoids at home

It is extremely rare for a patient to determine the disease at the first stage of its development. Her patients often do not notice or ignore. For the initial stage of hemorrhoids, only a burning sensation is characteristic, itching in the anus after emptying of the intestine. Unpleasant sensations pass quickly, within a few minutes. In this case, it is impossible to determine the diagnosis on your own at home, since other diseases are characterized by similar symptoms. You do not need to ignore them, but immediately contact a proctologist who can determine the presence of inflammation.

Complications

Not everyone is able to recognize the disease on their own, it is better not to hesitate, but to go to the doctor and find out if there is hemorrhoids or not. Maybe this is some other pathology.

After all, an untimely detected disease can lead to such complications:

  • anemia,
  • inflammation of the hemorrhoid cones,
  • paraproctitis
  • rectal bleeding
  • necrosis, thrombosis,
  • rectal fissures.

To avoid this, it is important to conduct an examination and diagnosis at the doctor's office on time, since it is very difficult to independently identify the early stage.

Diagnosis of ailment

Hemorrhoids of the first degree in men rarely diagnosed. The fact is that this disease is considered somewhat indecent.

Men are embarrassed to go to the doctor and give birth to treatment. Many men believe that the disease is only their problem. Men will not bother to see a doctor.

In the early stages of hemorrhoids, many men do not attach importance to the symptoms of the disease. Often, they generally do not assume they have a disease.

What to do at the initial stage of hemorrhoids, to whom to turn for help? If you find the primary signs of hemorrhoids, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible.

The proctologist is involved in the treatment of this disease. This doctor can be consulted either for a fee, in a private clinic, or in a state clinic. It is advisable if the patient will have wet wipes with them at the reception.

Inner form

Thromboses of hemorrhoidal nodes appear under the mucous membranes of the rectum, and their formation is rarely accompanied by severe pain. It is more difficult to independently determine internal hemorrhoids, since cones do not fall out with this kind of disease, and there are no bloody discharge. A characteristic symptom that can be noticed is discomfort in the rectum, a feeling that there is a foreign object inside.

This symptom manifests itself in the initial stages of the pathology, when hemorrhoidal nodes are barely formed and have small sizes. To determine the presence of internal hemorrhoids, you need to contact a proctologist and undergo a rectal examination. In many cases, the disease develops in people with weak venous walls. Under the influence of various negative factors such as physical inactivity or chronic constipation, hemorrhoids are filled with blood and greatly increase in volume.

Acute inflammation occurs due to thrombotic changes in which the vascular walls lose their elasticity and strength. During gestation, the risk of pathology in the rectum increases significantly. It will not be possible to determine the presence of hemorrhoids of the internal type on your own, only a visit to the doctor and the examination methods chosen by him will help to find out the diagnosis and stage of the disease.

How to identify the initial stage of hemorrhoids?

With external hemorrhoids, the nodes are outside around the anal ring, so they can be seen with the naked eye. Diagnosis of internal hemorrhoids of the first stage is a little complicated and requires the use of additional methods, namely:

  • anoscopy
  • sigmoidoscopy,
  • fibrocolonoscopy.

Anoscopy is an examination of the anus with a rectal mirror (anoscope). With the help of this study, you can see the internal hemorrhoids and assess the condition of the mucosa of the rectal canal.

Sigmoidoscopy is an examination of the rectum and initial section of the sigmoid colon, which is performed with a special device, a sigmoidoscope. This device is a metal tube with an eyepiece and a light bulb. This method allows you to study the rectal mucosa, identify hemorrhoids or other pathological formations, as well as conduct tissue sampling for histological analysis.

Fibrocolonoscopy is an endoscopic method for examining the colon, during which the intestine is examined to the level of the ileocecal angle. Information obtained during the study is displayed on a computer screen and can be recorded on media. This method is performed if there is a suspicion of a combination of hemorrhoids with other intestinal diseases.

All patients who consulted a proctologist undergo a digital rectal examination.

The external nodes at the beginning of the disease look like small, painless tumor-like formations that are located around the anal ring and are covered with skin on top. The color of the skin over the cones is unchanged.

Internal hemorrhoids can be seen using the above diagnostic methods. In the initial stage, they look like bluish spots, which protrude slightly above the surface of the rectal mucosa.

Diagnosis of the initial stage of the disease

In order to detect hemorrhoids in the first degree, it is necessary to undergo examination by a proctologist. Despite the fact that you will have to go through a number of unpleasant procedures, identifying the disease to an initial degree will allow you to avoid prolonged, often surgical, treatment.

The doctor will first conduct a patient survey, external and internal examination of the anus. Since the disease is hereditary, the doctor needs to clarify the presence of hemorrhoids in relatives.

Using the method of anoscopy, that is, the introduction of a rectal mirror, it is possible to identify the expansion of veins and the formation of nodes at a depth of 15 centimeters. The main diagnostic methods for pathology include colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, irrigoscopy.

To detect bleeding, the doctor recommends that the patient pass a stool test for occult blood. In order to exclude malignant neoplasms, a biopsy material is taken.

Diagnosis and treatment

Check if there is hemorrhoids or not by visiting a coloproctologist. Assuming hemorrhoids are carried out:

  • visual inspection,
  • biomaterial research,
  • instrumental examination (colonoscopy, irrigoscopy, sigmoidoscopy),
  • the rectum is also examined through palpation diagnostics.

When the doctor helped to find out that the person has hemorrhoids, it is necessary to start therapeutic measures. Since the pathology is chronic and moments of remissions and exacerbations are characteristic of it, conservative therapy is performed at the first stage of its development.

  • special diet
  • baths with the addition of certain medicines or herbs,
  • physiotherapy
  • hygiene.

It will be possible to understand that hemorrhoids go away in the absence of severe symptoms (bleeding, pain, bulging nodes, discomfort during bowel movements, burning near the rectum). However, it will be too early to rejoice if the patient does not adhere to prevention. With improper nutrition, abuse of bad habits, a sedentary lifestyle, the symptoms of hemorrhoids can resume, and even stronger.

But as for the complicated form of the disease, conservative therapy can only cope with pain. Help with hemorrhoids will be provided only through surgery.

External hemorrhoids

With such manifestations of hemorrhoids as burning and itching in the anus, palpation of the painful area is necessary. It is necessary to check the presence of a cone near the anus, which is a seal - this is the main sign of the disease. Characteristic symptoms, in addition, are:

  • discomfort during and after bowel movement caused by tension and displacement of anal tissues,
  • cracks in the anus that bleed after going to the toilet,
  • heavy bleeding and mucous discharge from the anus
  • severe itching, burning inside the lower part of the rectum,
  • with a severe degree of the disease, pain begins to occur with movement and muscle tension of the anus.

Early stage diagnostics

It is important to consult a doctor in time when the initial symptoms of hemorrhoids have just appeared, since at this stage the treatment will be more effective and easier than with a neglected state.

Diagnosis of the disease is usually not difficult. The doctor will evaluate the patient's condition visually and by palpation.

In this way, external hemorrhoids are well diagnosed. Seals are visible around the anus, sometimes they bulge out and are felt under the skin with the finger method.

To identify the combined or internal form of hemorrhoids, finger examination is not enough, since the internal nodes are not palpable. In this case, the proctologist may resort to an endoscopic examination of the rectal mucosa.

Combined Form

The most dangerous and unpleasant form of pathology is a mixed one, which is characterized by inflammation of both internal and external nodes. This type of disease often causes acute thrombosis of hemorrhoidal veins and negatively affects the quality of life of a person who cannot even just sit. The combined form of the disease occurs extremely rarely, while most cases of its determination are a consequence of the advanced stage of the disease of hemorrhoidal veins of other types.

As a rule, the disease (which is not a complication) appears late and has an asymptomatic course. To determine the combined type of hemorrhoids, you need to pay attention to the following symptoms:

  • heaviness in the anus
  • a feeling of a foreign body in the rectum,
  • itching, soreness,
  • at later stages, prolapse of nodes occurs, bleeding begins.

How to diagnose hemorrhoids

After interviewing the patient and studying the symptoms, the specialist can confirm or refute the alleged diagnosis, while only a doctor is able to distinguish hemorrhoids from other pathologies with similar symptoms. To determine the type of disease, various diagnostic methods are used. Palpation helps to identify hemorrhoids, and the patient may also need to undergo a thorough examination of the anal canal. If this is necessary, the doctor will prescribe a stool test, take a scraping to diagnose the infection and biopsy the perianal tissue to exclude skin diseases.

Self diagnosis

To check for hemorrhoids on your own, you need to take a lying position and bend your knees. Then you should carefully feel the anus with your fingers. If you visualize the area of the anal passage in the form of a dial, then the hemorrhoidal cones must be searched at the level of 3.7, 11 hours. The nodes to the touch will be strong seals that hurt on palpation. External hemorrhoids rise above the anus and cause severe discomfort, pain. The patient is not able to sit and move for a long time.

Professional Diagnostics

It is better for the patient to see a doctor at the first sign of the disease. You can diagnose hemorrhoids using several methods. With an external manifestation of the pathology, the signs are immediately visible. If the nodes are located in the rectum, first palpation of its lower part is performed, which allows to determine the localization of hemorrhoidal cones. To get more detailed information, doctors prescribe other diagnostic measures, including:

  1. Irrigoscopy. The method involves the use of a special contrast agent and the creation of images of the intestine.
  2. Anoscopy An instrumental diagnostic method for examining the rectum, which is carried out using a rectal speculum.
  3. Sigmoidoscopy. The procedure helps to study the condition of the rectum and sigmoid colon in more depth and detail by visual inspection using a special device.
  4. Colonoscopy Using this procedure, you can study the condition of the colon in a matter of minutes using a special long flexible probe, the end of which is equipped with an eyepiece with backlight and a camera that transmits the image to the monitor.
  5. Fecal analysis. It helps to assess the state of microflora, to determine if there is blood and mucus in the feces.

How to determine the stage of hemorrhoids

Each stage of the disease is characterized by certain symptoms and changes occurring in the anal-rectal region. To determine the stage of hemorrhoids, it is important to know the signs of each of them:

  1. First stage. Nodes are just beginning to form, while there is no bleeding. When the bowel is empty, the patient experiences discomfort in the rectum, often the disease is accompanied by bloating. Since these symptoms may indicate other diseases, only a specialist can find out the correct diagnosis.
  2. Second stage. At this stage, the nodes fall out of the anus. As a rule, this occurs during bowel movements, when a person begins to push. Solid feces and constipation exacerbate the situation. At this stage, the appearance of blood in the feces, burning, itching after defecation is possible. The patient develops severe pain during physical exertion.
  3. Third degree. It can be determined by external inflamed hemorrhoidal nodes that form around the anus and / or fall out when the intestines are empty and muscle tension is present, however, they can still be adjusted to the intestine independently. This stage of the pathology is treated surgically.
  4. Fourth degree. The most dangerous, because it carries the risk of developing anemia, other serious complications and exacerbations of the patient's condition. Drop-down nodes are no longer possible to correct on their own, while they bleed, causing severe suffering to a woman or man. The pain appears with the slightest movement of the body, anal fissures are formed, which are unbearably itchy and bake. Treatment of hemorrhoids in an advanced stage is carried out immediately with the help of surgical methods.

When a visit to the doctor is needed

If any abnormalities in the anal area appear, you should contact a proctologist. To determine the disease, it is not recommended to engage in self-diagnosis, since only a specialist can distinguish one pathology from another with similar symptoms, who will prescribe the appropriate treatment based on the data obtained during the diagnosis process. Periodically check bowel health should be people who are at risk and have a high probability of developing the disease. Among the factors contributing to the development of pathology include:

  • sedentary work,
  • frequent constipation
  • excessive exercise
  • genetic location
  • childbirth, pregnancy,
  • abuse of fatty, spicy, salty foods,
  • pelvic inflammation,
  • vascular diseases.

Treatment options

Treatment is very dependent on the stage at which it is started. For example, the treatment of hemorrhoids of the initial stage is aimed at preventing the further development of the disease and exacerbations.

This can be achieved by:

  • prevention of constipation,
  • strengthening the walls of blood vessels and increasing the tone of hemorrhoidal veins,
  • prevention of hemorrhoid bleeding.

In order to normalize stool, it is usually necessary to follow a certain diet and change the lifestyle. If these funds are ineffective, laxatives are prescribed.

In order to strengthen the walls of blood vessels, drugs prescribed by a doctor prescribe drugs that increase the tone of veins. The doctor also prescribes the drugs necessary for the prevention and treatment of bleeding from hemorrhoids.

As a conservative treatment of the 1st stage of hemorrhoids hirudotherapy may be prescribed. It is usually used in combination with other treatment methods.

Minimally invasive methods

These treatments make it possible to remove hemorrhoids with minimal trauma to the surrounding tissue. In fact, this is a surgical intervention. But it does not deprive the patient of disability. These techniques include photocoagulation, cryotherapy, ligation of nodes with latex rings and other methods. Sometimes treatment is carried out using a laser.

Infrared photocoagulation: when applying this method, an impact on the leg of the hemorrhoidal node with special infrared rays occurs.

As a result of this procedure, the vessels that feed the hemorrhoid are damaged and it dies.

The short video below will help you get as much information as possible about infrared photocoagulation:

Cryotherapy - This is a procedure for freezing hemorrhoids. For the procedure, liquid nitrogen is used.

As a result of cold exposure, tissue death occurs. After some time, they are rejected. The procedure does not cause the patient serious pain. Ligation with latex rings: in this case, a latex ring is superimposed on the leg of the assembly. It survives the vessels that feed the node.

After this, the node, devoid of blood supply, dies. Watch the video below to learn more about latex ring ligation:

Minimally invasive procedures are performed on an outpatient basis. If after manipulation the patient begins to experience pain, then such pain usually lasts from several hours to two days.

You can remove such pain with conventional painkillers. A hospital certificate after performing manipulations is not required.

Surgical removal

This method is rarely used, and only in the most advanced cases. Surgical removal of hemorrhoidal nodes in the hospital.

For manipulation, spinal or local anesthesia is used. In the hospital, the patient will spend 2 to 7 days.
The video below shows how the operation to remove hemorrhoids goes:

Transition to the second stage

How fast does grade 1 hemorrhoids turn into 2? If untreated in the initial stage, the deterioration begins fairly quickly.

Usually deterioration begins a few months after the first stage has begun. However, I want to note that the treatment of hemorrhoids of the 1st and 2nd degree is very similar and can be carried out by taking simple medications.

Hemorrhoid treatment

At the first stage of hemorrhoids, in most cases, conservative treatment is prescribed. Surgery is necessary when hemorrhoids is a secondary disease or complication, as happens with cancer pathologies.

Conservative methods of treatment include taking medications, that is, venotonics, venoprotectors, microcirculation correctors, angioprotectors. Doctors often tend to prescribe drugs like Detralex, Venarus, Ascorutin. An individual course of therapy is required for each patient, therefore self-medication cannot be practiced.

At an early stage of the disease, the use of rectal suppositories often helps, for example, the use of Relif suppositories, Olestesin sea buckthorn suppositories, Proctosan. With external hemorrhoids, cream and ointments are prescribed for the treatment of hemorrhoids (Proctosan, Heparin ointment, Ichthyol ointment, Fleming ointment and others).

The result of treatment largely depends on the patient. To recover, you will need to adjust your lifestyle, get rid of bad habits. Patients suffering from obesity will need a diet, people with a sedentary lifestyle need to engage in gentle sports. All patients are prescribed a diet that excludes foods that lead to constipation and improve bowel function. You need to eat more fruits, dairy products.

Additionally, alternative methods of treatment can be used, but after consulting with the doctor. In the fight against hemorrhoids, you can use ointments based on honey and propolis, apply compresses from potatoes, a decoction of nettle, a bath with chamomile and oak bark.

Surgical treatment at the initial stage of the disease is practically not prescribed. By following the recommendations and prescriptions of a doctor, you can stop the progression of the disease and avoid serious complications. If the disease continues to develop, minimally invasive methods of surgical intervention, such as cryodestruction, sclerotherapy, ligation and others, can be prescribed.

Hemorrhoid Prevention

The methods of preventing the development of hemorrhoids include maintaining an active lifestyle, playing sports, giving up bad habits, especially the use of alcoholic beverages. If a person’s work is connected with a sedentary lifestyle, including this applies to drivers, it is recommended to use special orthopedic pillows for a chair. Overcooling, overwork should be avoided.

Often patients are sent to see a doctor with an already advanced stage of the disease, shy of symptoms, this leads to the widespread prevalence of pathology. When the first signs of hemorrhoids appear, do not delay with going to the doctor. In any case, self-medication is not recommended.

Treatment of the initial stage of hemorrhoids

With hemorrhoids at the initial stage, treatment should be comprehensive, and consist of the following components:

  • diet,
  • lifestyle correction
  • physiotherapy,
  • taking venotonic and angioprotective drugs,
  • the use of local antihemorrhoids - suppositories, ointments, creams and gels.

It is possible to increase motor activity both with the help of walks in the fresh air and light jogging, and with the help of sports. The safest and most useful sport for hemorrhoids is swimming.

Exercise exercises have beneficial effects on the vessels of the anus, strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor and improve intestinal motility. There are many exercises that are used in the prevention and treatment of hemorrhoids. The most popular and effective today is Kegel gymnastics.

We will talk about the diet for hemorrhoids further, and now we will consider the drugs that are used to treat this disease.

Systemic therapy

Timely administration of drugs with venotonic and angioprotective effects, allows you to stop the development of hemorrhoids. These drugs narrow the endothelial pores, due to which the vascular tone increases, and their walls are strengthened (extremely doubtful statement). The most effective venotonics are as follows:

  • Detralex
  • Troxevasin,
  • Venarus
  • Aescusan
  • Flebodia 600 and others.

The consequences of hemorrhoids

The main symptoms of hemorrhoids in the first stage (tingling sensation and heaviness in the lower rectum) cannot be ignored.

Any ignoring the problem can lead to serious consequences.. The same can be said about self-medication, which is usually incorrect.

Possible consequences of hemorrhoids.

Serious consequences of untreated hemorrhoids are:

  • Anemia from frequent blood loss. At the same time, bleeding can be of different intensities: if several drops of blood are found on toilet paper, do not worry. But with bleeding lasting more than half an hour, urgent hospitalization is required.
  • Vascular thrombosis is dangerous for the death of rectal tissue. A timely visit to a doctor will help to avoid surgery.
  • Paraproctitis - a complication in the form of purulent inflammation of the intestinal tissues, which, if ignored, can end in the most sad way. At any slightest purulent discharge, it is urgent to consult a doctor.
  • Converting Inflamed Cells to Cancerous - with a running form of hemorrhoids.

Treatment methods

Treatment is divided into drug (conservative) and surgical. For the initial stage, a conservative solution is often enough, which is often combined with traditional medicine recipes:

  • Rectal suppositories wound healing, relieving swelling, itching and burning. They are most often used to treat internal hemorrhoids.
  • Ointments and creams are used to treat external nodes.
  • Preparations that eliminate constipation, for oral administration, in the form of suppositories or microclysters.
  • Drugs that prevent thrombosis.
  • Venotonics in the form of tablets or capsules to increase the tone of the veins.

A prerequisite for treatment is to identify the causes of the disease and its elimination.

It is necessary to prevent constipation, for which you need to revise your diet: it should have fresh vegetables and fruits, cereals and sour-milk dishes, you should eat less flour products and meat dishes.

Such a physical exercise as “birch” will be useful, during which there is an outflow of blood from the pelvic organs and unloading of hemorrhoidal veins.

Suppositories for hemorrhoids

Suppositories for hemorrhoids are used to stop unpleasant symptoms of the disease, as well as to relieve inflammation in the tissues of the anus. Rectal suppositories are used mainly for rectal hemorrhoids.

Among the advantages of anti-hemorrhoid suppositories, it is necessary to highlight the speed of the onset of the effect, ease of use and the minimum number of side effects, since the drug acts directly on the tissues of the anus, without penetrating the systemic circulation.

The most effective suppositories for initial hemorrhoids are such as:

  • candles with sea buckthorn oil. With the help of this natural preparation, it is possible to normalize vascular tone, reduce the manifestations of inflammation and accelerate the healing of anus tears,
  • candles natalside. This drug is made from brown seaweed, which is a natural hemostatic. In addition, Natalside has anti-inflammatory and decongestant effects,
  • suppositories Relief Advance. This drug consists of a local anesthetic - benzocaine and mineral oils. Thanks to this composition, pain, itching and burning in the anus are instantly relieved, and the tightening of anal fissures is accelerated,
  • candles Procto-Glivenol. In this drug, in addition to a local anesthetic, venotonic is also present - tribenoside, so when it is used, not only unpleasant symptoms of hemorrhoids are eliminated, but also the tone of the vessels of the rectum increases,
  • suppositories Proctosan. These suppositories contain a local anesthetic, anti-inflammatory ingredient, titanium and bismuth compounds. The drug has analgesic, antimicrobial, healing and anti-inflammatory effects.

Hemorrhoids ointments

Antihemorrhoidal ointments are successfully used both with external and internal hemorrhoids. With external and rectal administration, the ointment is quickly absorbed into the tissues, reducing the severity of the symptoms of hemorrhoids.

In the initial stages of the disease, specialists often prescribe the following antihemorrhoid ointments:

  • Relief. The ointment contains mineral oils that improve microcirculation in the tissues, soften the skin of the anus and accelerate the healing of cracks. The drug also includes phenylephrine, which constricts blood vessels and stops bleeding,
  • Troxevasin. This gel increases the tone of hemorrhoidal veins and strengthens their walls, due to which venous congestion in the vessels of the rectum is eliminated,
  • Proctosan. This ointment has the same composition and therapeutic effects as the candles of the same name, namely: relieves inflammation, destroys pathogenic microbes, accelerates the healing of cracks and relieves pain in the anus,
  • Methyluracil Ointment. This drug is an excellent healing agent, which also reduces the severity of inflammation in the rectum,
  • Heparin ointment. The drug consists of heparin and benzocaine, which relieve pain, prevent blood clots and improve microcirculation in the problem area,
  • Fleming Ointment. This is another effective drug for hemorrhoids of the initial degree, which consists of natural components. Ointment relieves pain and itching in the anus, relieves inflammation and accelerates tissue repair.

Of course, this list of drugs is far from complete, because the modern pharmaceutical industry can offer many more highly effective suppositories and ointments for hemorrhoids. But the choice of drugs for treatment should be exclusively the responsibility of the attending proctologist, since each medication has a strict list of indications and contraindications.

Baths

Warm sessile baths with hemorrhoids help relieve inflammation, eliminate pain, itching and burning in the anus, accelerate the healing of anal tears, and also prevent infection of hemorrhoids.

To conduct baths, use a solution of potassium permanganate, salt, baking soda, as well as decoctions and infusions of medicinal plants (chamomile, sage, nettle, yarrow, onion peel, oak bark and others).

Means for oral administration

  • decoction of herb hypericum. This plant contains a lot of healing substances that have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and hemostatic properties. To prepare a decoction, 10 grams of dry extract of hypericum leaves are poured into 250 ml of boiling water and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes, after which they are filtered. Ready broth is drunk 60 ml three times a day before meals,
  • broth of grass of grass. This plant has a laxative, analgesic and hemostatic therapeutic effect, which is very important in the treatment of hemorrhoids. To prepare the broth, you need three tablespoons of dry extract of kidney grass pour 250 ml of boiling water and boil over low heat for 15 minutes, then strain through a fine sieve and cool. The medicine is taken orally three times a day 20 minutes before meals.

Can hemorrhoids be cured in the initial stages?

Unfortunately, hemorrhoids is a chronic disease that can only be completely cured by radical removal of varicose veins in the anus.

But, hemorrhoids at the initial stage, lends itself well to conservative therapy, which allows you to forget about the disease for a long time and even, maybe, forever. The main thing is that treatment should be started in a timely manner.

It is also important, after stopping the acute symptoms of the disease, to follow a diet, maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, and also take periodic venotonic courses so that the cured hemorrhoids do not return.

As a result, we can conclude: the earlier hemorrhoids are detected, the more chances there are to get rid of it. In addition, the treatment process in the initial stages of the disease is easier and requires less financial costs than advanced forms of hemorrhoids.
